After having Lap-Band surgery in 2010, walking has been my number one form of exercise to lose the weight. And, I’m still going. But I never know what my work is doing for me and it’s really important to keep track of how many steps I take, my calorie intake, and how many calories I’m burning. I need to be on top of my game to get and keep my health in check.
Recently I received the Omron Alvita Ultimate Pedometer and my results have been eye opening. Because, before I received it, I was using an app on my phone to track my steps each day. Sadly the app was seriously under the correct amount that Omron gave me.
With our move to California, it has been really difficult to get in the exercise that I used to. We’re running everywhere, visiting friends, and eating a whole lot of fast food. While these are great fun things, I need more steps each day to reach my 10,000 steps per day goal. So, I got to thinking, what I can do it squeeze in those steps?
Tips to Reach 10,000 Steps Each Day
Park far away.
This is really been a huge plus for me when shopping in large shopping centers.
Take the kids for a walk.
My boys love being outside so putting them in the stroller while I walk around the block gives me a boost of energy between errands and gets the kids outside!
Cool off at the mall.
California is already warm this time of year. We’ve enjoyed a couple of days strolling the mall, people watching, and getting in a few extra steps.
Walk in place.
Seriously, don’t think I’m crazy. In fact one of my big exercise routines is doing exactly this. So stand up! March right where you are during phone conversations, talking to the kids, or watching TV at night.
Skip the elevator.
This is a hard one for me, sometimes. But it so easy to do.
Walk the park.
My kids always want to play at the park. While they’re busy playing it’s really easy for me to keep an eye on the action while walking the sidewalk around the play equipment.
Omron Alvita Ultimate Pedometer Can Help You!
Walking is beneficial to our lives for so many reasons. Did you know that it can help you ease stress or boost your energy level. Skip those energy drinks and start going for short walks. Did you know that 10,000 steps per day is recommended, too?
If you’re walking to help ease your stress or to lose weight, Omron’s Alvita Ultimate Pedometer can help you reach your goals.
Four Activity Modes: Tracks steps, aerobic steps, distance and calories to keep you motivated to go further each day.
Tri-Axis Technology: Counts steps accurately and quietly, whether positioned flat, vertically, or horizontally.
Automatic Stride Function: Makes set-up a breeze because the pedometer automatically suggests stride length based on your height and weight inputs; or you can calculate your own and input it yourself.
Weekly Log: Stores up to seven days of information in memory; resets to zero at midnight, so you’re ready to go every morning.
Automatic Reset: The slate gets wiped clean at midnight, so you can easily track your daily steps and distance.
Light Weight: This pedometer clocks in at 0.8 oz, and includes a large display and buttons for easy operation.
Easy To Replace Battery: No tools required to replace/remove battery, simply slide the lock on the back to remove the battery cover.
Setting up the Alvita Ultimate Pedometer was so easy. As soon as the battery was in, I setup my height and weight. That information allowed the pedometer to automatically generate the length of my stride. Then, I setup the time.
After the information was in, I added the rubber guard to the outside and placed the clip.
And, just like that, I was ready to get my walking on!
It is so lightweight and easy to wear that I haven’t noticed it at all during the day. The clip also doesn’t get caught on anything, like the diaper bag on my shoulder, which has been really nice as it’s a problem I have noticed with other pedometer’s I have tried.
