Shopping for Zadey is something that used to be a lot of fun, you know, before she decided she needed a say in the matter. Before she decided that she had a right to choose her own clothes, and long before she declared herself a fashionista with “a passion for fashion.”
That all happened around the time she turned 5. And, since then, every shopping trip has been nothing but wrinkled noses at every suggestion… whether hers or mine. For about a year I decided that she could wear whatever she wanted, and if she looked crazy, that was her choice. My control freak self didn’t make it much longer allowing her to have this whacked out clothing style and her own “free spirit.”
Since then we have worked hard at coming up with compromises. For example, as you’ll see below, she can wear all the dresses she wants; but my rule is that they must having leggings… for two reasons. The first is that if I buy dresses to fit Zadey’s height, they will be so baggy she’ll swim in them. The second is she is far from lady like in dresses, and until she learns to be modest, she covers it up!
And, as if our debate over good style wasn’t enough to deal with, we then deal with her size. Zadey is 7, almost 8 years old, and weighs a whopping 43 pounds… soaking wet. She is rail thin, and tall. We struggle finding the right size in everything, but shoes.
So, keeping all this in mind, you can imagine that I was not looking forward to my and Zadey’s sit down session at the computer to shop at Sophia’s Style.
We went page by page, looking at all the different selections. Zadey had her eyes right on the dresses, but as I looked through all their choices, what I first noticed is that there wasn’t anything I would say no to because it wouldn’t be appropriate for her age. In fact, there were several pieces that we agreed on.
From every day shorts, tops, and dresses, to the most beautiful flower girl dresses, Sophia’s Style offers something for all girls.
Ultimately, Zadey wanted dresses. From a huge selection she chose about 10 of them, of which I chose her final three…
For just $50.00 we managed to grab three dresses, and three pairs of shoes. Including a pair of adorable ballet slippers. Something Zadey loves to have in her collection, and was needing a new pair of.
There is just so much to love about Sophia’s Style, and now you get the chance to fall in love, too.
