Keeping my kids safe, especially while in the car, is of utmost importance to me. I hate to admit it, but I often think about the realities of car accidents because I have seen, first hand, the damage that can be done. I am more careful on the road when my kids are in the car and I am much more aware of other drivers when my kids are with me.
But, there is no doubt that kids in the car are a distraction. There is crying, needs, and fussing. While there are some great moments too, like my kids laughing and playing together, it is all a distraction while on the road.
According to a study conducted by American Baby and Safe Kids Worldwide, new moms are 300% more likely to get into an accident than other drivers, in part due to tending to an upset baby.
That is a very alarming statistic for me. I cannot tell you how many times, in the last 8 years, I have had to pull over to tend to an upset baby (or two). It is a reality that all parents will face at one time or another.
But, Evenflo is now working with NASA-developed Outlast® technology to help our babies stay more comfortable in the car and help prevent distracted parents while on the road.
Introducing Evenflo Symphony DXL Convertible Car Seat
The Evenflo Symphony DXL convertible car seat has some really amazing features, several of which I absolutely adore. I’ll cover them all, but here are my favorites:
NASA-developed Outlast® Technology
Absorbs hot and cold temperatures and releases them as needed to help balance your child’s body temperature.
This is so perfect in our hot California summers. It seems that my babies seem to start sweating twice as fast during the summer and our 100+ degree days when I put them in the car. But, with Outlast Technology, that heat is pulled away from them keeping them cooler in the car and more comfortable. The fabric helps to ensure a safer, more peaceful ride for both mom and child and help prevent an accident from ever happening.
e3 Side Impact Protection
Evenflo continues to go above and beyond government standards to provide car seats that are 2X the Federal Crash Test Standard. In addition to this, this seat includes e3 Side Impact™ Protection, which is designed and tested to reduce side impact forces up to 50%.
Buckle Pockets
Seriously! It’s about time; such a genius idea.
Gone are the days of digging under baby to find the buckles. Or how about those blazing hot buckles from being in the sun. No more. Now you can tuck them in to the pockets on the side of the car seat and keep them in a convenient location all while ensuring they do not get hot!
Machine Washable
Machine-washable pad comes off easily and requires no harness re-threading. Seriously awesome. My boys are always making a mess in their car seats and washing the pad is so easy when you don’t have to worry about re-threading the seat belts or making sure everything falls back in to place correctly.
Dual Cup Holders
And, they’re not just any cup holders. They are outfitted with elastic on one side which allows the cup holder to adjust to the size you need. This is great for using one for a snack cup and the other for a sippy cup or bottle.
The other nice thing about this is that they are super easy to clean and don’t hold anything else. This means that left-over snacks don’t sit in cup holders unnoticed and start stinkin’ up the car.
Oh, come on, you know your toddlers are guilty of stashing away snacks in their cup holders, too. My boys do this all the time.

That looks like a wonderful car seat. Both of my boys used the one I got for my oldest and it was nowhere near as nice as that one.
Choosing a quality car seat is so important. Thanks for the review!
we’ve spent a LOT of money on car seats since our first was born almost 9 years ago. safety FIRST. especially with people on cell phones and stuff- too many distractions. we need to keep our little ones safe!
I agree. The money spent is well worth the safety!
yes, money would be no issue for my child’s safety.
money well spent! So important to make sure kids are safe.
The upgrades from a standard carseat that this one offers is astounding. Nasa technology in itself is amazing for the temps. It’s a sleek looking seat too!
Love all the safety aspects, sounds wonderful!
Wow that car seat has a lot of nice features and looks really safe. I think that the temperature release fabric sounds great for summertime. I feel bad when my kids are sweating in their hot seats.
This looks like a very safe car seat. That statistic about new moms is scary!
That looks like a fantastic car seat!
I can’t believe that moms are 300% more likely to be in a crash … but at the same time, I can believe it!
The 300% number is very shocking to me too! I would have assumed moms would be safer.
Now that’s one nice looking car seat. I would have loved this when my son was younger.
What an adorable little guy! He is riding in the lap of luxury AND safety in that seat. They have REALLY come a long way since my children were in car seeats. A lot safer for SURE!
Wow, I would say that this is the “Cadillac” of car seats! The design and technology has changed so much since I had car seats for my boys!
Wow! Carseats have really changed since mine were babies. Twenty years ago, our carseats looked a lot like the bouncy seats that people use in their homes. Now they have all these fancy features! Great review.

I’m past the age where we would need such an extensive car seat, but this one definitely looks top of the line.
We love Evenflo carseats – they’ve been our favorite convertible for all of our four children. Thankfully we are getting to the end of our car seat years, but I’ll be passing this info to my sister who is shopping for a new convertible for my niece. Thanks!
Now that’s a scary statistic. Love that this car seat encompasses all the must features.
Love that it has the washable pads, and the dual cup holders for both juice and snack.

Love the side impact protection. My boys are past car seats (booster seats now) but I would have definitely bought this car seat were it available a few years back.
That looks like such a great car seat. We have a Graco convertible seat right now and it’s not my favorite. I hate the seatbelt! I’ll have to check this one out.
Now that looks like one heck of a car seat! Sturdy and functional!
That Evenflo looks like the Cadillac of car seats! I will have to keep this in mind the next time I’m invited to a baby shower!

I am so grateful for the continuous updates and safety aspects added to car seats. I was a stickler for having my kids in car seats for extended times and encourage all of my friends and family to do the same. You can never be too safe when it comes to vehicles and precious cargo.
The buckle pockets looks pretty useful. I’m glad the designers thought of that. Sounds like it can come in handy.

Wow, that is a nice car seat. Love all the features and your pictures! Will have to look at it next time I need a shower gift
I have to admit I am so glad these days are over for me! My son is still in a booster seat in the car but man I remember when I was picking his seat out… It was so hard! There were so many kinds and so many things to compare and of course at 19 I had a budget. What a tough thing to do!!!
I love this carseat! It looks extremely durable and something I wish I saw when my son was little!!!
Machine washable is an absolute must. I love that it is convertible, I appreciate a product that would grow with my child.
I need to buy a booster seat for my little one, we just bought a new car and we definitely need a new one. :D
I guess that accident statistic makes sense, but yowza. That is pretty scary!
OH, and I’m really glad this particular seat is so safe. Plus, I love the recline positions!
I like that it rearfaces! We are still rear facing at 2 so that is very important to me!
Good for you momma! My son turns 3 in 10 days and we’re still rear-facing too!

it is so cool to see all of the safety features built in plus that it is machine washable.
This is a really secure car seat for babies.
It’s been ages, but we used Evenflo for my girls. They have change a bit in the past 12 years or so for sure. This is like a dream seat!
You had me at temperature regulation! It is over 110 degrees here in the summer and it’s so hard to circulate air to kids in rear facing seats so that is a really nice feature!
Wow! I love all of the safety features! This seems like the car seat to have!
Awesome – safe and comfortable!
Car seats have changed A LOT! This one looks very safe and secure!
That sure is one fully loaded car seat!
I have never seen a rear facing car seat with so many features! This is definitely a step in the right direction!
Awww! your son looks very handsome :-) Car seat is very vital to keep that precious cargo safe while we are driivng. Evenflo has the best car seat brand to use. I think my little K used Evenflo car seat too when she was little :-)
